Last year in May, we celebrated two years of marriage. Since we made the move to Maine in 2014, a lot of our savings we had started for a house and our honeymoon got used so we could make the transition to Maine easier for the first few months. We made the move without getting jobs first so it was important to have that safety net. Luckily, we both found jobs within two months, but saving up still takes time. As I mentioned in my last post, we’re back on track to make those two things happen — very exciting! In the meantime, we wanted to do something fun and special to celebrate our anniversary: a mini moon. Is that a thing?
We booked this beautiful house in Sedgwick, ME through Airbnb. I’m trying to put into words how lovely our time was there, but I don’t feel like it is doing it any justice. Hopefully, the photos in this post (and the next one) will persuade you to book it yourself too! We also chose this place because of its close proximity to Acadia National Park. We love going there!
We were worried we might have to cancel our trip because our pup, Valentine, had gotten very sick a couple of days before we had to leave. Luckily, the vet said it wasn’t serious and she just needed to take pills for about a week. We had friends visiting from out of town that were happy to watch Valentine for a day or so before it was the pet sitter’s turn. It was an intense couple of days, but I was really relieved she was feeling better the morning we left. I’m so thankful for people who kept us sane and made sure we could get away and do something nice for ourselves! We really needed it and I hope to get back there again one day.
Check back in a couple of days for more photos from our trip! xo
